Issues with Augmentation

I had augmentation (both) & a lift (left only) done in August. My surgeon did not use the sizes I selected and my breasts are still asymmetrical. I have asked for a correction but he refuses to do anything until 1 year out. Is that normal?

Procedure: Breast Augmentation
Location: Buford, GA

Healing following breast implants and Mastopexy (breast lift) takes many months before your final result can be completely evaluated. It is often appropriate to wait a year before reoperating to improve symmetry. That being said, depending upon the preoperative shape and size of each breast, some asymmetry should be expected.

Timing of a revision depends on the degree of asymmetry and hmjiw quickly your tissues heal. Typically 6+ months should allow for a safer, more predictable, result.

Normally I would suggest waiting a year for it takes that long for everything to truly settle. It is to your advantage. Maybe you had some bleeding or more swelling on one side.

Dear Heather,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. In my practice, we will defer any revisions until 6 month postop, but other surgeons have different protocols. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!

Hi. Sorry for your issues, but it can be revise and solutioned. Just have to wait, as your surgeon is asking you to, from 6 month to a year. Be patient.
