Hello I am 24 years old , 5”3 and weigh 108pounds . I’m looking into breast augmentation because after breast feeding twins I am not content with the overall contour of my breast. However I had my sons via c-section surgery , would that affect my breast augmentation in any way? & Do I need to do any previous checkups with my physician prior to scheduling an appointment for the breast procedure?
Hi. Assuming your C-section incision has healed normally, without any infection issues - it should not present any problems for your upcoming breast augmentation surgery.

A c-section would not be expected to affect your breast augmentation any more than vaginal delivery. Presumably, at this point your children are weaned and your breasts have returned to a non-pregnant state.

Congratulations on your twins, and on breastfeeding! The C section should not cause any difficulties with your breast augmentation. You should be 6 months past breast feeding before undergoing surgery. You have the option for silicone implants or saline. Most surgeons will require a medical clearance from your primary care doctor before the surgery, But there is no need to undergo tests now. Find an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in your area.
Having a C-section will not affect your breast surgery. If you have an abdominoplasty at a future date because of the effects of childbirth and the C-section it could even if performed years after the breast surgery. Without a face to face examination it is impossible to know but to get the contour you want may require adjunctive procedures such as a crescent mastopexy. It the skin has been stretched out by breastfeeding a breast lift may be needed in order to get the contour you want.

It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. Based on your description, I do not think that a previous C section would prevent you from having a breast augmentation. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. Prior c-section should not affect your breast surgery in any way. I generally recommend waiting 6 months after breast feeding to allow the pregancy-related changes to resolve before performing any breast surgery. I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options but breast augmentation should be an excellent choice.
Hi, congratulations on your twins.The answer is no, having prior C-section does not contraindicates a Breast Augmentation Procedure. All of my patients are submitted to extended preops by cardiologist to ensure their good health and low level of risk to undergo surgery.
