Vaginal Rejuvenation

Can someone tell me how to verify license and certifications for a gynecologist that offers vaginal rejuvenation at a spa? Is he required to be plastic surgeon? Or just certified? If so, what field specifically. Thanks

Procedure: Aesthetic Genital Plastic Surgery
Location: PHOENIX, AZ

I can't speak for gynecologists but I find that scenario strange. I recommend seeing an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in their office and you can verify their credentials through this site. If a gynecologist is also needed they can refer you to one. Good for you that you are doing your homework!

License and specialty board certification should be publicly available. Check with the Arizona State Board of Medical Examiners. No special certification is required for the procedure you are considering, so you will have to take it upon yourself to verify the doctor's credentials and experience. Hospitals grant privileges based on the physicians's credentials, but in a spa or office setting, a licensed physician does not have those constraints.

There are a number of websites, namely the American board of medical specialities that can tell you if a physician is board-certified but once vetted I would seek out a series of surgeons in consultation who have extensive experience with your desired procedures in order to receive the best information.

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. In general, both a gynecologist and plastic surgeon are capable of performing vaginal rejuvenation. You can search for licensure status at the state medical board website, and the American Board of Medical Specialties. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
