Breast lift with augmentation issues- HELP!

It has been 1 year and 4 months since my initial surgery. The surgeon had to correct his work with a 2nd procedure. My areolas are so scarred and almost look mangled. One implant is obviously larger and lower than the other. The scarring is horrible. I did everything I was told to do during the healing process. What can I do about this if anything? I'm really unhappy with the results.

Procedure: Breast Lift
Location: Clanton, AL

Your scars can likely be improved with a revision of the mastopexy as it looks likel you still have some ptosis. Alternatively scar treatment including cosmetic tattooing may be of benefit if you choose to avoid further surgery. I suggest that you seek the advice of a plastic surgeon, you do have options.

Hello, You definitely need a Revision Mastopexy (breast Lift). It is definitely possible to have very pleasing results (including the scars) and an improved final outcome for your Breasts.

Dear AllieAnn,

Breast augmentation with simultaneous breast lift is one of the most challenging procedures in plastic surgery. It brings the risks of 2 different surgeries to the table at one time. In addition, it involves 2 opposing forces; the tightening of the skin with the breast lift and the stretching of the skin with the breast augmentation. Widened scars are sometimes the result of the latter of those forces winning out. Contrary to "one implant is obviously larger and lower than the other," the right breast looks lower and the left breast looks larger in the photo. This may not be the case in person. An examination would have to determine that. Oftentimes, after the skin has relaxed and stretched a bit, (probably by now for you) the scars can be revised with less tension and subsequently less likelihood of widening again. Otherwise, downsizing the implants and revising the mastopexy may be an option for you. Good luck!

You had some drooping (ptosis) because your skin lacks elasticity The surgery improves the looks but it does not restore elasticity and normalcy to your skin. The weight of the implants also cause your skin and tissues to stretch more. You probably had some asymmetry before the surgery and have some now. The scars are not the best but it is not unusual to see these kinds of scars with the surgery that you had. The combination surgery you had has many possible complications and some plastic surgeon will only do it in stages i.e. mastopexy first followed by implants later. If it bothers you a lot you could have revisions of all the scars with removal of more skin from the right side. Possible complications from this are high and would be a lot less with removal of the implants or replacement with much smaller. I would only remove the implants and revise the entire mastopexy and you must understand there are many possible complications .Get other opinions from local ABPS cert. surgeons.
