Do I have an infection ?

I am 5 weeks post op and started spitting stitches, at first it was just one but everyday I had a new opening with a stitch coming out. I pulled out all the stitches but I’m worried about how my incision line opened up in so many places. Does it look infected ?

Procedure: Tummy Tuck
Location: Palmdale, CA

Rainy not ideal. Follow up frequently with your surgeon.

Hi, this situation happens for several reasons, one is the excess in tension of the closure of the wound during the operation . Second, the amount of blood supply to the border of the ( upper) suture line. Third ( rare) bacteria within the fibers of the suture materials used for the closure. Fourth ( very rare) wound will open to drain some fluid accumulated inside.

You need to see your doctor in order to help with this matter.

Hope this helps.

This needs to local wound care at minimum and some debridement. Please follow up closely with your surgeon. Best wishes

Looks to me like a serious reaction (or rejection) of the suture material used. Your surgeon will recommend wound mainenance and confirm or deny my opinion.

Occasionally this happens. It is not a big deal and will heal well with some time. Some people react different to suture materials and the sutures spit out. It is not infected. It could become infected but probably will not. It is frustrating to you and your surgeon but it will turn out ok. Needs simple wound care and close follow up by your surgeon.
