I want to remove my silicone implants after having them for 13 years. Never had any problems with them doesn’t feel like they rupture everything fine. I want an explant procedure without capsule removal. Is it harmful/dangerous if I leave capsule?
Since you are not having any problems, unless they are ruptured, there is no need to remove the capsule. However, it is best to have a discussion with an experienced plastic surgeon. If you have textured Allergan implants, it may be worth discussing capsule removal.
Unless the capsule looks irregular or you are having issues, there is no need to remove it. You can absolutely have implant removal without capsulectomy in some cases. This procedure can even be performed under local anesthesia. Please visit with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
Explant witout capsule removal is a safe and quick procedure. Best of all it is economical due to the short time needed in the O.R.
Thank you for your question. If your. capsule is not diseased ( no evidence of ALCL or capsular contracture, calcifications) there is absolutely no reason to remove the capsule. It can safely be left in. In fact, removing a healthy and normal capsule can lead to disfiguring of the breast and may call for additional procedures. Please meet with a board certified Plastic surgeon in order to go over all of your options
If the capsule is thin and there are not problems then there is no need to remove it but some surgeon would recommend it. You need to have a consultation with a local ABPS certified or eligible plastic surgeon to ask all of these questions pertaining to your individual case.
