Necrotic tummy tuck

I had a TT&ended up with necrosis/open wound.It is healing slowly&I am putting gaze soaked in water& cleaning it in the shower as instructed.I am having pain in any position besides laying down.The bottom region from the incision&below burns.The corners have tunnels,discharge&hurt.I’m told I shouldn’t have pain&should be able to go back to work.I don’t foresee being able to.Is pain atypical&work e

Not all wounds are pain free, some pain early on is common. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Hello, I would need to see photos of the wounds in order to further advise. It is definitely a complication that your surgeon would be able to better advise on.

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. Please make sure you have close follow up with your operating plastic surgeon in order to get the best care. Sometimes all that is needed is local wound care such as what you describe or sometimes there may be more procedures needed. Best wishes

Most of the time an open wound is not going to be painful but it could be even if we do not see a reason. We do not know how long it has been since your surgery or what your wound looks like. Most likely it will heal with time. The best person to deal with this problem is your ABPS certified or eligible plastic surgeon and any questions you have should be addressed to him or her.
