Back Pain due to congenital issue

I have an unusually narrow spinal canal. So much so that when I ruptured a disk I developed Cauda Equina Syndrome. Luckily, I was able to get spinal surgery before paralysis. However I suffered nerve damage. I gained a lot of weight in my mid section. I spoke with my Ortho about the pressure it is creating on my back and gait. Is their any type of lipo that can be written up as med necessary?

Procedure: Liposuction
Location: Richmond, VA

I am sorry that you have these problems. You must understand that liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. Most patients who undergo liposuction have no change in their weight. Insurance companies consider liposuction cosmetic and not a covered procedure.

Your pain and other problems are due to spinal stenosis, based on your description. Liposuction is not the answer to your symptoms. Weight loss may help with some relief. Your weight might be visceral fat and that is not treated with liposuction. Large aprons of fat and skin might contribute to your symptoms but not all of your symptoms. Even with full abdominoplasty you may NOT get any relief.

liposuction is not for loosing weight, is for contouring the body and is not covered by any insurance company. The back pain is treated by neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and pain specialists. Seems that being overweight exacerbates the problem and you may benefit from weight loss. Seeing a doctor for help with diets may help.
