Good Day, are there any pro bono plastic surgeons in the Springfield, MO area that could assist me in having all my excess skin removed? I would be at goal weight if this would occur. I went from 413 to 219. I'd love to feel normal in my own body plus I have issues with yeast infection, hernia, and back issues.
I do have private health insurance that could possibly cover the procedure.
Thank you for your question. If you have private health insurance, this, as you said, may be covered. What you need to do, is call member services for your insurance company, and they can provide you with the exact guidelines that they have for possible coverage for this procedure. Please be advised that these guidelines are very tremendously between insurance plans. It is very important that you must follow the insurance companies guidelines to the letter if you want coverage. Otherwise, they will deny the procedure.
Please meet with an ABPS board certified plastic surgeon and ASPS member surgeon to go over all of your options, and out of pocket costs associated with the surgery.
Some surgeons also have financing options available to cover uncovered portions of the surgery.
Please also be very wary and cautious of places advertising very low prices for surgeries. More often than not these places are high volume and low quality.
Best wishes!
Just the cost of the hospital and anesthesia are going to be significant. If you have medical insurance they may cover this. What you need to do is look for a list of American Board of Plastic Surgery certified surgeons close to where you live and start calling to make an appointment for consultations.
