Visceral Fat

The spelling of the word may be in correct, but I've been told by a few doctors that I have Visceral fat, or fat that can't be helped through Liposuction, because of the type and location of the fat in the abdomen region, but I want it removed and I'm not sure if a Tummy Tuck is the correct procedure if not can you tell me what would be?

Procedure: Tummy Tuck
Location: Bullhead City, AZ

Thank you very much for this excellent question. Visceral fat is the fat this is in and around your internal organs. This cannot be removed. Only way to remove it is to remove your internal organs. For my patients with visceral fat I suggest that they lose weight first before any cosmetic procedures. Sometimes it may help to have bariatric surgery to lose weight. Best wishes!

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Think of visceral fat as the fat within your internal organs, almost like the marbling found in red meat. This can not be surgically removed with any procedure and can only respond to diet and exercise. Hope this helps.
