Do most plastic surgeons use anesthesiologists, or just a nurse anesthetist? To me getting put to sleep is the scary part. Is having the procedures done in a hospital with an anesthesiologist always an option?
In my office I only use a board certified anesthesiologist. I can also perform this in a hospital as well.
Hi. Yes, fear of anesthesia is a big issue for many people. In our center, we only use board-certified MD anesthesiologists for all major surgeries. They are the most experienced & highly trained.
Make sure you ask who your anesthesia provider will be, as this is not the case everywhere...
In my office we also use a board certified anesthesiologist.
We use only board certified anesthesiologists in our office surgical center. If I am in the hospital, I work with nurse anesthetists but they are being supervised by an MD anesthesiologist. In an office setting it is appropriate to have a MD anesthesiologist caring for you. Remember they will keep you safe, by monitoring your vital signs, keep you hydrated, etc.
Thank you for sharing your excellent question. This will vary based on the physician but in my practice only board certified anesthesiologists are used. Hope this helps.
