Breast augmentation with fat

I'm 5'2 and weight roughly 150 pounds. My weight is more in my butt, thighs, and love handles. Where would the fat be taken from? Would I be a candidate?

Procedure: Breast Augmentation
Location: Saint ignace, MI

thank you very much for this very excellent question! In order to do a breast augmentation with fat only , you must have none to minimal ptosis ( sagging of the breasts). If you are found to have ptosis then you would also benefit from a mastopexy (breast lift) at the same time as your augmentation. Please note that if you do fat only, you may need more than one session Of fat grafting to achieve your desired size. As far as where the fat is taken from, it can be taken from areas where there is excess fat that you find undesirable. Please consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in order to learn all of your options regarding cosmetic breast surgery. Best of luck!

In my experience the fat I transfer to the breasts does not all last and if I get about a 30% of it remaing I feel it is good whereas in the buttock it is more like 60-80%.

You would need an in-person consultation to determine exactly what is needed. But hypothetically, you could liposuction fat from the thighs and flanks (love handles) and transfer some of it to the breasts. It may take more than 1 surgery to get the size and shape you want, and typically you wouldn't get the rounded breast shape that one can achieve with implants. So, there are pluses and minuses to the technique - your surgeon can discuss with you in detail, versus using an implant.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Typically fat is harvested from diet and exercise resistant areas of the body and is then cleaned and purified before placing it into the breasts. Unfortunately without being able to see pictures it is difficult to offer you definite advice, so see a series of ASPS board certified plastic surgeons in consultation to discuss.

Thank you for the question. In many instances fat grafting can be done from problematic areas such as abdomen, hips, and thighs. There are a variety of options that can be discussed with a ASPS surgeon.

Fat can be taken from your love handles and thighs for transfer to your breasts. I avoid taking buttock fat because it makes the buttocks sag. Fat transfer results are unpredictable and continue to diminish over two years. You may need several sessions. Implants work better but fat transfers are a good option if implants can't be used or if you don't want to have one. Hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. Based on your description, your love handles and thighs are probably the best donor areas. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
