Wound Care

Hello, I had a breast lift four weeks ago. Both of my breast had a scab & my doctor yesturday told me to put surgical tape on top of both of the scabs. Today I removed the surgical tape & both of the scabs fell off & now they both look like the picture attatched. I resent a picture to my doctor and he said to reapply surgical tape and leave for a week. I am scared I am not treating it properly.

Procedure: Breast Lift
Location: Stockton, CA

This will heal it may take some time but usually within 1-2 weeks. It may just be a spitting suture.

Wound healing process is by steps and sometimes a minor “open wound” area, may occur. The important issue, in your case( by the photo and your comments) is that there are not sign of infection

By advice is to keep the wounds perfectly clean( Iodine or similar), you can try to re adapt the wounds lips and let the tape work by 3-5 days. Anyway, there are many other options (like using Sunscreen like Isdin, scar massage and remember that final results are seen after 1 year postop.

Relax, Do not break contact with your surgeon( he made a good job), and just… give a time for the healing process.

I suggest that you schedule an appointment with your surgeon ASAP. If you see any suture material, it may need to be removed in order for the wound to heal properly. What is necessary is debirdement of the small amount of non-viable tissue that is whitish in color. No need to worry, but the wound needs your doctor's care.

Suture is probably sticking out. The incisions lines should heal well. I would apply Plato's Scar Serum as we do in our office and consider vbeam laser for the scar longterm.

Best,
