What went wrong

After 2 months of neck lift and dividing bands. It looked good at first but after the swelling went down the bands are very visible. It seems like the bands are intact. What could have gone wrong

Procedure: Neck Lift

Nothing went wrong. Some bands may remain especially in animation. You would have to cut these bands in multiple areas and tighten in the middle and lateral neck. You could also try Botox to decrease the appearance

Plication (Corset tightening of the two visible borders of the Platisma muscle may be necessary, if not done during your first surgery. A complement to a submentoplasty is definitely a Neck-lift. In conjunction, these two procedures may be needed in order to improve, because the neck-lift will also remove extra skin and tighten your platisma muscles.

Platysma bands can recur for many different reasons including disruption of the muscle suture line especially if it was a running suture or a fine suture, inadequate dissection or release of the muscle edges, over activity of the muscle... Unfortunately if you want these addressed you will have to redo the surgery.

The platysma needs to be plicated sutured in the midline and the neck skin needs to be tightened from post auricular incisions. That is the only way a neck can be improved
