Can this scar be fixed easily? What are the possible procedure options?
A scar revision is possible, even it looks it is not easy to guarantee a total improvement. The reason why it happened is just because an improper wound lips closure an an extended incision.
If you ever decide to do a scar revision, of course go with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and you will need a laser treatment a few weeks after( Picolaser). I hope you find this information useful.
My operative plan would be to excise the scar and the skin between the nostril and the cheek and then suture the nostril to the cheek, concealing the scar under the convexity of the nostril. It is possible, but not likely, that there might be some minor asymmetry of the nostrils, but you don't provide a basal view of the nose so the two sides can't be compared.
Complete scar revision or re-do of the scar is necessary and simple in expert hands. The type of suture material to be used is also of importance in order to have a good outcome. Fortunately, it can be done under local anesthesia.
Under local anesthesia the scar can be moved to the crease in between the nostril and the cheek
One can not say it happened because improper closure without knowing all details. It is possible to revise this scar and most likely you will have an improvement. There are no guarantees of any kind however. Visit a local ABPS certified or eligible plastic surgeon for consultation and there are many in Houston.
