I wear a 38H and I have alot of back problems because of my breast. I was wondering if I recieve a dramatic change in size does the breast reduction automatically come with a lift??? Or do i have to personally request a lift after the reduction. Curious to know what happens with all the extra skin that would be left if I recieve a reduction.
Hello Curious Cat:
Yes, when we do a breast reduction, the breast is automatically "lifted" at the same time. You don't have to ask for a lift as a second stage. The extra skin and breast tissue are removed together.
All the best!
Breast reduction surgery does automatically include a lift based on the design of the surgical pattern. Whether you are having a traditional "anchor or upside down T" or a vertical "lollipop" incision, your breasts will be lifted to a more youthful position after reduction. Best wishes on a great result and speedy recovery!
Dear CuriousCat,
Thank you for your question. When a breast reduction is performed a lift is also accomplished. You should not need a second surgery for a lift.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. During a breast reduction, excess skin is removed, and the nipple is resized and repositioned into a higher, more youthful position, so a lift is performed at the same time. Hope this helps.
Yes, a reduction reforms the breast and lifts it into its new higher location. The extra skin is also removed. You can watch a breast reduction surgery on my website. I usually do this as an outpatient and if patient is out of town, they need to be in area a minimum of 4-7 days.

Excellent question! When doing a reduction, a lift is also performed. Your nipples will be placed in the proper position. Best of luck!

An excellent and common question. Yes, each breast reduction includes a breast lift as well. The way I explain this to patients is: "Imagine leaving the nipple attached to the breast tissue, but lifting the skin away starting at the bottom. The peripheral excess breast tissue is removed, leaving the appropriate core amount. This core is lifted internally and sutured. The now excess skin is removed from the lower breast, and the scars hidden." Our goal is to give you a proportional, lifted breast while maintaining sensation and possible function, for those that want to go on to breast feeding. Almost every patient tells us they wish they had had the procedure sooner!
