8 weeks since my surgery, and the swelling has gone down by 90% i think. However, I've noticed that my chin looks longer and my face appears slimmer, making me look older. I didn't plan on increasing vertical height, but it seems to have happened because of the implant placement at the edge of the jawbone. I'm wondering if the loss of cheek volume is permanent? When to get a genioplasty + removal?
It should not cause loss of cheek volume. You are smiling in the before pick so that can raise your cheeks and make them look fuller. Did you just have chin implant or was there anything else done?
I agree with Dr. Torabi. Chin implants do not cause loss of cheek volume. However, the "harmony" of the face is a subtle and nuanced concept where a change in one aspect can give the impression of a change in another element of the face. This might be what you're interpreting. Best to talk to your surgeon or another board-certified plastic surgeon about your best options, whether that is another chin procedure, other intervention, or no intervention.
