High BMI

Hello l’m a 48 year old woman that wants to get some work done on my body. I have a BMI of 48.5, l’m 320 lbs, I am 5’8, and l have high blood pressure. I am active but my knees hurt my feet hurt standing to long. I get tired fast. I just want to get liposuction and an arm lift. Most of the doctors say get a gastric bypass and that’s not for everyone. One I don’t eat a lot. Any recommendation?

Procedure: Liposuction
Location: Kentwood, LA

You are not a candidate for either of those procedures. Your weight is a threat to your health. You should consult a surgeon for consideration of bariatric surgery.

You have to consult a weight loss surgeon since little or no benefit for liposuction or skin tightening at this stage

Thank you for this very good question we get asked a lot.

first of all liposuction is not considered a weight loss procedure. You will not lose significant weight from liposuction. Liposuction is best done on someone who is already at their goal weight to get rid of stubborn fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.

Also a BMI higher than 30 is an independent risk factor for complications from anesthesia as well as post surgical complications.

For the best results and for your own safety you are getter served by losing weight and then meet with a plastic surgeon to figure out what procedure are right to achieve your goals.

Best wishes

Gastric bypass is not for everyone but instead of spending money on surgeries that you most likely won’t be happy with and risk your life is not a good idea. I would suggest trying one of the weightloss medications suck as ozempic or mounjaro which can help reduce the weight and then you can have surgery with less risk and better cosmetic outcomes.

Hello there! Your high BMI would be a contraindication for plastic surgery. It is endangering your health at a relatively young age. My advice would be to find a BARIATRIC SURGEON for those procedures to help lowering weight, and a year after consider plastic surgery.
