I'm looking for a few good surgeons to have a consultation with, what are usually the cost of them and what should I look for?
The cost of a consultation will vary. When you call for an appointment you will be informed of the cost. Some surgeons will deduct the consult fee from the surgical fee is you decide to have the procedure done. Remember, you are paying for the surgeon’s time and expertise in speaking with you, so it’s worth it. Use the Find-a-Surgeon link on this website to locate a board-certified plastic surgeon near you. Call and tell them what you are interested in. You can ask if this is a common procedure performed by that surgeon, and approximate costs. But the surgeon will need to examine you, discuss your options, develop a plan, and only then give you an exact fee.
Thank you for your question! Costs will vary from different regions and what you are seeking a consultation for. For cosmetic, some surgeons will offer complimentary consultations or a small fee for consultation which can be applied toward a procedure. For insurance cases you may have to pay a co insurance or deductible. Call some offices to see what their policy is.

It's good that you're doing your research. Some patients have a procedure after visiting a single surgeon, although many we see have visited on or two others to make their decision. Ideally you will pick a pleasant, experienced, understanding surgeon whose office facility and staff are enjoyable as well. Board certification in plastic surgery and membership in this American Society of Plastic Surgeons are a starting point. A surgeon and practice that emphasize the types of procedures you seek is a plus (facial aesthetics, scar revision, rhinoplasty, body contouring, etc.). Before and after photos that show results you are comfortable with is a nice consideration. A good reputation with other physicians in your area (ask your primary care doctor). Ask plenty of questions and listen carefully to the answers. Best wishes on your quest.
I do not charge for either an i person or Skype/Facetime/Whats Up consultation.
