So many questions!!!

I am 29years old. I live in Washington DC and I want to get my breast lifted, but I’m really nervous about the procedure. I’m a 34 DD with some back problems. Can you tell me a little about it as to how long the procedure is, the healing process, the do’s and donts. How safe is it?? I just want to know as much as I can before making a decision.

Procedure: Breast Lift
Location: Washington, DC

Hi. That's a big question - and usually that's exactly what is discussed at a consultation. It sounds like you are ready to take that step.

If you are having back issues related to the breast weight, you might do better with a breast reduction rather than a breast lift.

Fortunately, most patients do really well with breast reductions, and are back at work within 2 weeks, and feeling more comfortable, and more proportional. They are some of the happiest patients in plastic surgery! While all surgery has risks, most patients do well, as long as they are in good general health, aare not smokers, and follow the surgeon's post-operative directions.

I perform a lot of brastlifts In fact I give a course on this subject at national plastic surgeon meetings to other doctors. I often use a limited incision procedure using a lollipop incision. The procedure usually takes between two and three hours and the recovery is usually less than one week for most patients. They can often go back to light duty at work within about a week, and then they can go back to the gym for a light activity is usually about 3 to 4 weeks.

Thee are several different types of breast lifts and it depoends on how much excess tissue you you and how high you want your breasts to be. I usually peform these as an outpatient with a recovery of about two weeks. I can also remove some breast tissue at same time. The main negative of thee procedures besides the possible difference between the two breasts, infetion are scars which are good in 80% of cases.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Unfortunately without being able to see the current state of your tissues it is difficult to offer definite advice on your questions and I would recommend seeking out a series of consultations in the DC area to see what your best options are at correction. For most patients the surgery is quite safe with recovery taking 1-2 weeks. Hope this helps.
