Can you have high BP post-op? Should I ask for BP meds in case?

I am having a breast reduction this week. My blood pressure normally is ok (120s/80s). I definitely have some white coat syndrome and my blood pressure will sky rocket due to my anxiety. The only other surgeries I had were two c-sections. Both of those ended in postpartum preeclampsia and months of BP meds. Should I worry about high BP happening after this reduction? Should I ask for BP meds?

Procedure: Breast Reduction
Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Evaluation of general medical condition including vitals is undertaken by the anesthesia team and may be other specialties before during and after the surgery. They will consider BP control with medications once it’s indicated.

This is not a question to ask of people that do not know your case in detail. This you should ask your own surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Before you have a reduction you should definitely have an evaluation by an internal medicine doctor to make sure all of your medical conditions are optimized.

Best wishes
