How do I find an a surgeon experienced in a Brazilian Butt Lift?

For your buttock augmentation with fat transfer (BBL) you will need knowing all aspects of the surgery and its risks... in these order... you need think in your health and safe... I recommended only travel to other country if you have time and relatives or friends with the time for any unexpected situation. If this is not possible, better operate with someone close to your place of residence.

I have just submitted a paper to the main plastic surgery journal "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery" regarding safe fat grafting to the buttocks. There are many things to be aware of, not only how the fat graft is processed but also the specific technique and tissue plane of the injection.

I have much experience with BBL's especially in my satellite office in Miami. You need need enough areas to remove the fat via liposyction to be able to transfer to the buttock as well as be off your buttock for at least one week.

I do not do Brazilian butt lifts, but I have sent some of my patients to a surgeon in Charlotte. I know surgeons in Charlotte do it, so I would suggest you look there.

There is good consensus amongst experienced board-certified surgeons that he main concern with this surgery is that you place the fat above the muscle. When you interview surgeons, you are looking for an engineer, a doctor, and an artist all in one. He or she needs to be careful, understand the biology, what can be achieved realistically and safely, and have a good aesthetic sense. Again, make sure you are not putting fat into or below the muscle. Good luck!

Thank you for your question! There has been a lot in the press regarding this procedure. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has a specific task force looking into the dangers of this operation and has come out with specific techniques upon injecting the harvested fat and the instrumentation best used for the process. In addition to following these standards, I have always had my patients either stay overnight in the hospital or have a nurse stay stay with my patients for hydration with IV fluids and use of a catheter so patients vitals and urine output can be monitored. Specifically addressing your concerns with your plastic surgeon would be great way to get a feeling if he or she performs many of these procedures. I hope this helps!!

If you can’t find someone locally then just expand your search to areas you would be willing to travel to. This particular procedure has gained a lot of popularity in recent years and more surgeons are performing it well. Many offices will offer virtual consultations, particularly if they are seeing many out of town patients.
