hi, i have question regarding textured and smooth implants:in most of the articles its written that textured implants r more firmer comparing to smooth implants & that the smooth implants move everytime u r doing some exercises-to what extent that corresponds to truth:does it mean smooth implants will change their position every time u r going to the gym to train the upper part of ur body
your smooth implants will return to their correct position. I would recommend placing your smooth implants under the muscle and this means, that when the pec muscle contracts, your implants will temporarily be shifted upwards, but then as soon as the muscle stops contracting, it will return to their correct position.

Most implants used in the US are smooth. Textured implants were supposed to reduce the incidence of capsule contracture but this has not proven to be the case. Textured implants seem to have a higher rate of rupture. The rare complication of breast implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma appears to be associated almost exclusively with textured implants. If you were to consult me, I would recommend smooth saline filled implants placed under the pectoralis muscle.
Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Each style of implant will develop some form of shape change when exercising and contracting the pectoralis muscle. Once relaxed, both will return to their previous shape. Due to development of BIA-ALCL textured implants are limited in their application at this time. Hope this helps.
Both smooth and textured implants may appear to move if they are placed under the muscle, (which is recommended) with intense pectoral exercise. If you are a serious body builder, sometimes above the muscle is an option. The smooth implant has been more popular over the years, and many patients and surgeons are shifting toward smooth implants due to the concerns about ALCL. Implants greatly improve self esteem and are still one of the most frequently requested and performed surgeries. Smooth implants do feel a little softer than textured. Good luck!
There is some movement of both types of implants, particularly when placed under both breast and muscle. This movement is temporary during exercise and as soon as the patient stops, the implant returns to its original position. This does not usually present a problem for the patient.
