CHEEK TRAUMA

Hello, My daughter is 3 years old. Last month my daughter had trauma to her cheek on the right where her smile line is. I noticed there is a dent in her cheek specially when she smiles. I wanted to is this something that she would need to get surgery on now or at some point?

Procedure: Mommy Makeover
Location: Monticello, FL

Hello Tanika

Usually After any trauma we should wait for scar maturation (6-12 months) to get final result and consider then scar revision. If it is required. You should do massage on the scar and sun screen protector several times at day. These are just general recommendations; The scar should be evaluated personal to recommend you any specific treatment.

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your daughter's injury. At this point, depending on the care she received for the trauma, it would be best to allow the tissues time to fully heal before attempting any additional treatment. Any attempts to revise the scar would lead to either increased pigmentation of the tissue or a worsened appearance. For a 3 year old timing can be anywhere from 3-6 months worth of recovery. Hope this helps.
