I see many young men for gynecomastia, or enlargement of the breast area. It is a common issue and surgery can be absolutely life changing.

This is the only surgery I will perform on minors. If you are 20, it is unlikely that the gynecomastia will resolve without surgery. Many of my patients are very fit and slim, yet they have excess fullness in the chest. I have has other patients with some excess weight work hard to lose weight, only to keep the fullness of the chest area. Gynecomastia corrections seems like a straightforward surgery. But really, expertise is required. The goal is a smooth, even result with little to no visible scarring. I urge you to seek out board-certified plastic surgeons with special interest and expertise in gynecomastia surgery.

Yes, you are old enough for a procedure to eliminate the gynecomastia masses of your chest. See a board certified ASAPS plastic surgeon in consultation. An assessment of the tissue under the areola, the position of the nipple, and tissue around the areola is critical to determining the best procedure to give you a normal looking chest. Removal of tissue, liposuction and areola lifting are the three main procedures I use to improve the look of the chest. Good luck...

if after three years it has not dissipated, you will most likely require surgery to correct your gynecomastia. Hope this helps

Yes it is absolutely possible and if you’ve had it since fifteen and it hasn’t resolved you should have it taken care of if you can. Some insurance companies will cover it as a medically necessary procedure. Paying out of pocket would most likely depend on the severity of it (like do you have an inframammary crease?) and your location . I can only speak for BH, where it would most likely range between $10–$20K. I think that no matter where you are, you’re not going to have it done correctly by a board-certified plastic surgeon for less than $5K, because it requires direct removal of the tissue, not just liposuction.

It would be unusual to lose unless you did lose weighht. Otherwise there is either liposuction or direct excision. The cost would be between 4500 and 8 thousand depending on what was done.

I would anticipate your needing surgery to reduce the gynecomastia. As other surgeons have said, it is absolutely life changing at any age, teenage to seniors. It's wise to go ahead and find an ASPS surgeon you like and get all the information you need. Scheduling the surgery is up to you but I would get a consultation now to help you make your decision.

Since you've had gynecomastia for 3 years it is unlikely it will go away be itself. Best advice is to obtain a face to face consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. They can examine you and discuss treatment options. Their staff can also provide you with costs for the procedure. This will vary based on geographic location, the surgeon as well as the specifics of what is being done.

Hi. You are in the ideal age for undergoing a Gynecomastia Correction procedure, to correct this condition.

Cost and fees vary from surgeon to surgeon, region and country. To give you a detailed information about the surgical plan in your case and an all included quote, a picture evaluation, at least, is needed.

In 2024, gynecomastia surgery in my practice averages $6000-$8000. It is a function of how much tissue needs to be removed and how much time I expect to need in the operating room. These prices are under IV sedation with a Board Certified anesthesiologist, and include the compression garments. When comparing prices be sure to get the total of all component costs:

Total cost = surgeon's fee + OR fee + recovery room + anesthesia + garments

The follow up office visits should be included in the cost.

As others in this forum have commented, it is possible to lose *some* of the excess fat in your breast area, but it would be highly unusual to lose all of it. Take care.
