Threads inserted too superficially / HELP!

had a PDO threadlift w/ medithread barbed in cheeks almost 5 weeks ago for jowel lift. was “training” procedure but was assured doc knew what he was doing. I was charged quite a bit for it to be done. Doctor & trainer knew immediately something went wrong but assured me all was well. NOT! now I have huge mass sticking out of my cheek, NO lift, very uncomfortable, admitted too superficial. Help

Procedure: Thread Lift
Location: berkeley heights, NJ

I would refer you back to your surgeon who should be able to guide you. If they cannot, they should be able to guide you where to go. If material was really PDO it will dissolve, but that will take months. Need to make sure there’s no infection.

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your recovery issues. I would return to your treating physician to discuss and to be offered appropriate recommendations.

Even though you were a 'training' patient, your surgeon who did this has the obligation to fix things that go awry as you are experiencing. You are truly teaching your surgeon a lot of this procedure and there are many 'non-surgeons' out there trying to utilize this product to allow them to compete with surgeons for faceilfts and lifting of anything else they can imagine. I hope your surgeon was a plastic surgeon and not some other kind of surgeon.

Threads usually can be removed. From what you describe, it seems like they should be. Your doctor has to help you or refer you to someone who can. Best wishes.
