FDL and BTL

Let me start off I have lost 150 lbs. I am thinking about having a tummy tuck surgery with an FDL cut. I am also wanting a BTL At the same time. Can this be done?

Procedure: Tummy Tuck

Can be done-yes. Should be done depends upon the preferences of your surgeons. The safest way to proceed is to recover from your pelvic surgery first, then plan your cosmetic procedure. The scars would be removed in FDL approach. Simultaneous surgery saves you time and a few dollars but increase your surgical risk. Best wishes.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Have you reached your goal weight? Most surgeons would want you as close as possible to your goal weight and to have maintained that weight for 3-6 months prior to an abdominoplasty. You can combine a tummy tuck with other procedures but it can increase the risk of complications. You would need to have a gyn surgeon and a plastic surgeon that could work together. Salpingostomy (unblocking of a Fallopian tube) makes me think you might be wanting to get pregnant in the future. Pregnancy after an abdominoplasty would likely stretch out your abdominal skin and worsen your result. It is usually best to finish childbearing before having a tummy tuck.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Assuming you are otherwise a good candidate, this combination of procedures can be done during the same operation, but be sure both surgeons can coordinate to do so. Hope this helps.

Yes, the two can be accomplished together ... I suggest consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss surgical options as well as to help coordinate true BTL with your contouring procedure .

I do not recommend internal surgery and a tummy tuck at the same time. The tummy tuck can mask the signs of complications from internal surgery making a complication life threatening. I feel they are best done separately for safety. A Fleur de lis abdominoplasty is a big undertaking too, and both together as two separate procedures also markedly increase the risks.

Congratulations on your weight loss. A FDL procedure is an option, but it requires a visible midline scar. I generally prefer a Circumferential Body Lift that includes several procedures in one - an extended tummy tuck, a waist reduction and lateral thigh lift (to help create an hour-glass waist), and lower back lift, buttock lift with the option of love-handle buttock augmentation (using your own excess tissue to volumize your buttocks). We would be happy to visit with you to help you learn more about your options. Best wishes,

Congratulations on your weight loss. What an accomplishment. They can be done at the same time, but I would suggest consulting with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to evaluate the best treatment for your particular body. There are many options and your surgeon can help map out the best plan for your body type.
