Breast Lift & Reduction.

Hello,

I am a 21 year old and I am currently sitting at a 38F. I have severe back pain and I am considering having a reduction . I also have a lot of sagging. Am I too young for a lift? Do I just need a reduction? Also is it possible to go down to a 36B or is there far too much tissue for me to have breast that small considering where I am starting.

Procedure: Breast Reduction
Location: Atlanta, GA

I do breast reductions on women your size and age all the time. You need a reduction. Your surgeon will examine you, determine the amount to be removed, will ask your insurance for authorization- ie. will they pay him and the hospital for their time and effort- and then you will schedule the surgery. If you are a true 38 F at 21, you will only get bigger over the next 10 years. Just decide if you want to live like this until you are 40, or not. Now is the time, before you have children. Get yourself smaller, fitter, lighter, and healthier. There are lots of great surgeons in Atlanta. Good luck.

Dear Ms. Dion,

From your description you would likely benefit greatly from a breast reduction. Typically breast reduction includes lifting the breast tissue and nipple position as a part of the procedure in addition to removing the excess breast tissue.

When I talk about breast reduction with patients I try to guide away from a specific bra cup size as the goal. My goal is always to relieve the symptoms and restore proportions for the patient. Patients do not need to be reduced to an A or B cup for relief of symptoms. Going from a 38 to 36 cup has more to do with reducing the lateral chest and back than the breast and typically requires liposuction or significant weight loss as this number represents the circumference of the chest rather than the breasts.

See a few board certified plastic surgeons in your area for customized advice after an in person exam. Thank you for your question and best of luck.

You certainly sound like a candidate for a breast reduction. If the breasts are sagging, a breast reduction procedure will also lift the breast as well as reduce the volume of tissue. You would have to be seen in person to be properly evaluated. best of luck.

Thank you for your questions! I have been amazed at what a life changing operation a breast reduction is! Not only does this procedure free women of chronic back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, and recurrent rashes, but a breast reduction frees women from the embarrasssment of having extremely large breasts and the loss of self confidence and self esteem that happens over time! Also, you will be able to be as active as your 21 year old friends and wear clothes similar to your friends! Imagine being able to wear a fitted blouse instead of a large flowing blouse to hide the size of your breasts. For my patients who wear an F cup bra pre-operatively, I recommend going to a C or small D cup bra size, to create an appearance that fits your body and relieves your pain. The breasts are lifted as the breasts are reduced and the excess sagging skin is removed! You will truly feel that a weight has been lifted from your shoulders!

Dear MsDion,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your description, you should be a good candidate for a breast reduction. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!

Hello MsDion,

You certainly are a great candidate for a breast reduction which will also lift your nipple and breast at the same time. As an F cup you probably have a lot of back and neck pain due to your large breasts that can be helped with a breast reduction. Your cup size after surgery can be determined during your consultation. Good luck!
