Will my insurance cover the procedure?

I’m 20 years old, 4’11 and I weigh about 140 pounds with 34 DDD/ 32 F size breast. I have minimal back pain and I have never been to the doctor for back/shoulder/neck pain but constant pain when I try to exercise or I refrain from doing so, plus let’s not mention my self esteem. I need this procedure and I don’t know if my insurance will cover it.

You need to look at your actual insurance policy as it should have a list of criteria for insurance coverage. If you meet the criteria, which vary between policies, they will cover the surgery. Those criteria usually require documentation of the duration of symptoms, a 3 to 6 month period of failed non-surgical treatment, physical findings like rashes or shoulder bra strap grooving and an estimate of a specific amount of tissue to be removed from each breast.

Thank you for sharing your question. Best to get in touch with your insurance company, and your specific plan, to determine if a breast reduction is a covered procedure, and if so what are the criteria you need to meet in order to qualify. Once done, schedule a series of in-person consultations with physicians in order to get the best treatment recommendation.
