Liposuction

Do you have to have the fat injected with liposuction?

If you elect to have liposuction, do you have to have the fat injected back into your body? I know some people will elect to have that done, but with either standard or Vaser liposuction is it necessary? Liposuction is rather painful, especially with fat transfer. The drains, and everything that I would rather avoid. Thanks for the advice.

thanks for your question . let's see liposuction and lipotransference are two separate procedures. you can have your liposuction with lipotransference obsin that is optional and you must discuss it with your doctor.

SURGEON PROFILE

Dear 2Tall2Handle,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Liposuction and fat transfer (i.e., fat injection) are two separate procedures. If you have liposuction, it is NOT necessary to have it re-injected into your body. In most cases, the fat is simply discarded in a safe, sterile manner. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
