Im currently a large DD suffering from neck and back pain. I’m looking to be a B cup size. Is this too big of a reduction? Does the size of the areola get reduced also? What cost bracket would I be looking at?

Performing a breast reduction on you sounds reasonable. It is difficult to go from a double D down to a B cup without compromising the shape of the breast. Breast reduction surgery is often covered by most insurance plans. You can contact your insurance carrier to see if this is a covered benefit for you.

Regarding the surgery, size is difficult to guarantee. Most patients in your size range will end in a C cup range. This would be discussed during your consultation to see if this is reasonable. A minimum of tissue needs to be left behind to ensure appropriate healing.

And yes the areola is reduced with this procedure.

You can find a board certified surgeon in your area on this site

best of luck

It can be reduced to size C along with areola reduction.

Here in India, breast reduction surgery will cost 3200 USD equaivalent and you may need to stay for about ten days.

We would be happy to help.

Yes. This sounds reasonable. Your nipple is reduced in size and your volume reduced based on your body frame and volume which would be necessary to remain for blood supply to your nipple. I have done clinical research on how breast reduction also help with arm and shoulder function. Cost would be determined on the amount needed to be removed. Please reach out if you need more information. Dr. C

Areola reduction is done at the same time as the breast reduction. Though we can't guarantee a cup size, full B or small C is reasonable. You also will gain a breast lift. It is a life changing, wonderful procedure. I would estimate about $9000 with surgery and anesthesia. It is usually a four hour procedure. insurance is sometimes an option but doesn't always cover.

Thank you for sharing your question. Without an in-person examination it is difficult to offer definite advice but based on your narrative you would be a reduction candidate to help your symptoms. The areola routinely gets reduced during the procedure and costs will vary on how payment is provided - insurance or cosmetically - so see a series of ASPS board certified plastic surgeons in consultation to discuss.

No, it really depends on what size you want. I always try to go a little larger for there is still a loss of size over the first year but it is up to the patient as to what she wants her breassts reduced to.
