Yes,

we are able to do this through our EHR Symplast. This allows the pt to down load the mobile app and we can communicate in a cloud based HIPPA compliant fashion. This software was designed by a Plastic surgeon for Plastic surgeons and runs almost every aspect of our practice

Jacques, standard text messaging (SMS short message service) has become an indispensable and ubiquitous communication tool of our age, however it is not secure. When the messages contain personal health information there are important privacy requirements to protect that content (PHI or protected health information). HIPAA laws mandate certain standards for PHI.

Specialized healthcare software must have several features to be secure. These include encryption, opt in authorization, identity authentication and secure cloud storage.
