do I qualify

I am a a 38DDD is eczema on my areola, and the pain from my breast size and the rash are driving me insane but my primary doctors keep saying I do not qualify without sending me to a specialist

Breast reduction surgery is very appropriate if you are a DDD and desire a smaller breast size. Most insurance companies cover a reduction mammoplasty if you meet their criteria. Eczema to the areola is not a contraindication to surgery. Best results will occur with treatment to control your eczema in the perioperative period.

You would have to be seen in person to determine if you are a candidate for a breast reduction. Based upon your history, it sounds like you are a candidate. But I wouldn’t be sure unless I saw you in person.

You need to be evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon. Once seen the information is submitted to your insurance company and they make the decision.

SURGEON PROFILE PROFILE

Dear JavV,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your description, you are likely a good candidate for a breast reduction. However, you will need to see a plastic surgeon to evaluate you for the procedure. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!

Yes, it appears that you would be a good candidate for a breast reduction. If you want insurance to approve your surgery, you will need a letter of medical necessity for your consultation and then your plastic surgeon will submit your surgery to insurance for approval. Good luck!
