Pro Bono

Just curious if any surgeons in the Houston area offer pro bono services for body contouring after weightloss or any ideas how to get insurance to cover it.

Thank you for sharing your question and congratulations on your weight loss. I would talk first to your bariatric surgeon about treatment options, otherwise inquire at local plastic surgery training programs for reduced cost options.

WE do offer excellent financing and even in house. Also, we can try and get your surgeries covered, at least partially. I would recommend sending photos as well as what you would like done. I am President of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons and that is my specialty.

Body contouring can be covered by insurance - each insurer has their own guidelines for authorization. Commonly this entails >100lb weight loss, stable weight for 12-18 months after weight loss, and evidence of rashes, wounds, or other complications arising from the excess. I recommend that you visit with a surgeon for an initial consultation to help guide you.
