The Section of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Ochsner Children’s Hospital seeks candidates for a position of staff surgeon. Primary responsibilities span the elements of pediatric plastic surgery, including cleft care, craniofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, pediatric hand surgery, adolescent breast surgery, congenital nevi, birthmarks and vascular anomalies, and ear reconstruction. Care of adult patients who have sustained craniofacial trauma will be part of the required clinical responsibilities. The successful candidate must demonstrate clinical excellence and academic contributions through training and/or practice experience. Qualifications and experience will determine appointment on the clinical level.

Ochsner is affiliated with the University of Queensland Medical Center, and the newly formed Ochsner/Xavier College of Medicine. Ochsner is home to the Tulane/Ochsner plastic surgery residency program, with a total of 6 residents selected through the independent residency track. The successful candidate would be joining a collaborative team and expected to contribute to the three academic missions: clinical excellence, resident and student education, and clinical research.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have an M.D./ D.O. or equivalent medical degree
  • Must be board-certified/eligible and have completed an ACGME-approved residency in plastic surgery.
  • Fellowship training in craniofacial surgery is required.
  • Candidates must be committed to educating students, residents, and fellows.
  • Excellent communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment is essential.
