The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, is seeking a board-certified/eligible candidate with expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery, including microsurgery, to support the increasing needs of our institution and referring services.

As the region’s academic medical center, Magnet® recognized hospital and Level I Trauma Center, The University of Tennessee Medical Center serves as a major referral center for East Tennessee, Southeast Kentucky and Western North Carolina. Our institution also is home of the region’s only dedicated Cancer Institute, supporting a high volume and complexity practice for our group. The Division of Plastic Surgery consists of 5 plastic surgeons, practicing in various sub-specialties including general plastic surgery, trauma and oncologic reconstruction, microsurgery and aesthetic plastic surgery. The practice is based at the main campus, which includes the 710-bed Main UTMC Hospital as well as an Ambulatory Surgical Center.

The position has an affiliate faculty appointment with the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine and entails training general surgery residents and teaching medical students. Robust opportunities exist to enhance the Division’s existing research activities through collaboration with various researchers within the institution, as well as University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Microsurgical expertise is strongly preferred with a focus on breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, and lower extremity reconstruction.
