The Institute for Plastic Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is seeking a board certified/board eligible Plastic Surgeon for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery level, depending on experience and academic record.

Responsibilities: This position will work primarily at our outreach clinic located on the Decatur Memorial Hospital campus in Decatur, IL.  This position will have privileges at Decatur Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL. Applicants must have completed a residency in plastic surgery.  Illinois licensure is a requirement of employment. Duties include maintaining a medical practice, teaching students and residents, and engaging in clinical and/or basic science research. 

Decatur has a population of approximately 70,000 residents, and is the largest city in Macon County, pop. 106,000. There are many options for recreation and entertainment, including festivals, art galleries, museums, parks, sports complexes and golf courses. Major metropolitan areas of St. Louis, Chicago and Indianapolis are within easy driving distance. Educational choices abound – families can select from public, private and religious schools based on individual needs, including 2 Montessori schools for pre-school through middle school aged children. There are also 3 dedicated community homeschooling organizations offering resources.
