Division of Plastic, Hand and Burn Surgery
The
Division of Plastic, Hand and Burn Surgery with the UNM Department of Surgery
is recruiting a Plastic Surgeon. The University of New Mexico Hospital is the
primary affiliate of the UNM School of Medicine and the state's only American
College of Surgeons Level 1 Trauma center. This faculty position is being
recruited at the Open Rank level.
UNM
Hospitals has extensive experience and expertise in managing the most complex
surgical patients and those who are in need of treatment of both benign and
malignant diseases of the breast, trunk and maxillofacial structures. Advanced plastic
surgery care is delivered by 4 board-certified Plastic Surgeons, with the
support of specialized services provided by our advanced practice providers. We
have an RRC approved Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency with 6 full time
residents.
This is a high-volume plastic
surgery center with more than 1,500 cases and over three hundred breast cases
performed every year. Our surgeons are highly experienced and capable of
performing the full range of plastic surgery including breast cancer reconstruction,
breast reduction, cosmetic surgery, lower extremity reconstruction, hand
surgery, and burn surgery.
UNM
Health Science Center (UNMHSC) is one of only 29 institutions nationally that
has both an NIH (NCI) designated Cancer Center (Comprehensive Cancer Center)
and a NIH sponsored Clinical Translational Science Center. UNMH has 629 beds
for adult, pediatric and psychiatric care. There were 90,000 ED visits, 2,500
trauma admissions (1,200 at the highest activation level, with >20%
penetrating trauma), and 19,460 surgical procedures. We have recently successfully completed our
Level 1 verification visit. UNM is the tertiary referral center for the entire state of
New Mexico and also attracts patients from neighboring states as well.
Minimum Qualifications:

Medical doctor or equivalent
·
Board certified/eligible in Plastic Surgery
·
Eligible for licensure in New
Mexico
·
Eligible
to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Board certified by the American Board of Plastic
Surgery, or Canadian equivalent
·
Experience in clinical research
·
Interest in medical education leadership
·
Demonstrated commitment to diversity,

communities.
Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a culturally rich and naturally

International Balloon Fiesta. Sitting at the crossroads of New Mexico's major
highways (Interstates 40 and 25). New Mexico is the home of two national
laboratories, Sandia and Los Alamos, and Kirtland Air Force Base houses the Air
