MedStar Health is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Microsurgeon to join our dynamic and collaborative team of plastic surgeons at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the largest hospital in Washington, D.C. and a regional leader in complex surgical care.
 
This full-time faculty position offers an exceptional opportunity to practice the full scope of complex reconstructive microsurgery, including:
Breast reconstruction (autologous and implant-based)
Head-to-toe microsurgery, including free tissue transfer
Lymphedema surgery, including lymphovenous bypass and vascularized lymph node transfer
Extremity reconstruction and limb salvage, in partnership with orthopedics, podiatry, and vascular surgery
Craniofacial and spine wound coverage
Abdominal wall reconstruction, often in tandem with colorectal and general surgery teams
Peripheral nerve surgery and hand trauma reconstruction
 
Fellowship training in microsurgery is required; additional fellowship training in hand surgery or lymphedema surgery is preferred. New graduates and experienced surgeons are welcome to apply.

Compensation Model: Competitive guaranteed base salary with transition to an uncapped RVU-based compensation model within the first year. Most surgeons in our system exceed the 80th percentile of MGMA benchmarks.
Work-Life Integration: Balanced call structure and ample operative time. Dedicated block time is available.
 
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree
Board-certified or board-eligible in Plastic Surgery
Fellowship training in microsurgery required
Eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia
Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to academic and clinical excellence
