Typically, the medical necessity forreconstructive nasal surgery comes down toshowing a functional benefit of the procedure,such as relieving an airway obstruction.Most insurance providers will notreimburse for improvements of aestheticnasal deformities unless documentationindicates they were done to repair a congenitalabnormality such as a cleft lip nasaldeformity. That’s why it’s important toobtain a written preauthorization for nasalprocedures.
