This article goes beyond a general review of prepectoral breast reconstruction, providing a working framework and important considerations for any surgeon utilizing prepectoral breast reconstruction techniques. This article also addresses current controversies, provides practice tips and technical pearls, and addresses gaps in knowledge with both opinion and a review of the most current literature.

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accredits ASPS to provide educational activities and material with Category 1 CME credits. Learning Objectives

After viewing this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Understand the unique differences between mastopexy in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery.
2. Describe the approach to performing mastopexy with autoaugmentation or after explantation. 
3. Have insight into the approach and decision-making process for performing mastopexy with nipplesparing mastectomy. 
4. Apply the mastopexy skin reduction techniques to ptotic women undergoing postmastectomy breast reconstruction.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
