Distant pedicled skin flaps are reported with the 15570-15650 series of codes. Since all flaps have pedicles, the terminology “pedicle flap” is redundant and may be somewhat confusing, but the term is often used to distinguish these flaps fromadjacent tissue flaps,which are reported with the 14XXX series of codes. This month’s column will discuss the appropriate use of the distant flap codes.
