Product Description

This Surgery Spotlight will provide an in depth look at a No-Drain Lipo Abdominoplasty procedure performed by Dr. Karol Gutowski from Chicago, Illinois. Watch as Dr. Gutowski performs the No-Drain technique using progressive tension sutures to bring the abdominal skin flap down to the abdominal wall, closing off the dead space with barbed mono-directional sutures. Followed by lipo abdominoplasty, in which indirect undermining using the liposuction cannula, allows for more liposuction and more lipo aspirate without compromising the skin flap. Liposuction of the abdominal flap will thin it and give a better result when combined with the abdominoplasty.

Upon completion of this video, you should be able to:

  • Recognize the benefit and components of a No-Drain Lipo Abdominoplasty procedure.
  • Identify steps for defining problem area where liposuction will be performed including location of access incisions.
  • Recall techniques and benefits of performing standard liposuction on awake patient.
  • Identify the benefit of using progressive tension sutures, specifically barbed sutures.
  • List best practices for care post-procedure.

Faculty: Karol Gutowski, MD
